Heavy Rain and Flood Warnings Issued Across Fiji as Active Weather System Persists
The Fiji Meteorological Service urges residents to stay informed via official channels and to take necessary precautions as heavy rain, strong winds, and flooding remain a significant threat over the coming days.

The Fiji Meteorological Service has issued multiple warnings as an active trough of low pressure approaches the country from the west, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and an increased risk of flooding across major rivers and low-lying areas.
Key Warnings in Effect:
1.Heavy Rain Warning: In force for the entire Fiji group, with intense rain expected to continue.

2.Flood Warning: Areas downstream of the Ba, Nasivi (Tavua), and Nakauvadra (Rakiraki) rivers remain at high risk of flooding.
3.Flood Alert: In place for downstream areas of all major rivers in Fiji.
4.Flash Flood Warning: Applies to all low-lying and flood-prone areas nationwide.
5.Strong Wind Warning: Coastal areas in the western and northern parts of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, and smaller islands face strong northwesterly winds averaging 38-47 km/h, with gusts reaching up to 64 km/h.

Impacts Expected:
•Poor visibility for motorists due to heavy rain.
•Road damage, flooding, and disruptions to essential services.
•Displacement of communities in low-lying and flood-prone areas.
•Risk of landslides and rising river levels, especially during high tides.
Advice for Mariners:
Strong northwesterly winds (20-30 knots) with gusts up to 35 knots will create rough to very rough seas, posing navigation hazards.
