Thirty-year-old Mohammed Ali is the winner for the Bum Mein Hai Dum competition hosted by FBC’s Hindi radio station, Mirchi FM.

He won himself a house worth $60k after lasting 77 hours and 34 minutes in the competition.

A total of 20 competitors from around Fiji took part in the competition where they sat on a mat continuously until Mr Ali was the only one remaining.

Each round lasted four hours after which participants were given a 20-minute break.

Mr Ali said he only wished his mother was there to witness the win.

“I am speechless, something kept pushing me and I kept reminding myself why I came all the way from Nadi for the competition,” he said.

“The determination of getting to that level helped me throughout.”

FBC chief executive officer Riyaz Sayed-Khaiyum thanked all the participants and supporters and all those who took part to get in the competition.

Mr Sayed-Khaiyum said no one in the world has ever attended such a competition and the time was an unofficial world record.

He acknowledged the runner-up Reena Devi, 40, for her courage.

Ms Devi was awarded consolation prizes from Courts and FBC, including a phone, a speaker and $3000.

The competition was hosted at Rups Mega Plaza in Nakasi, Nasinu.
