Rampur College Year 13 students and teachers after the Team Mathematics Competition national finals.

Year 13 students of Rampur College made history by winning the Team Mathematics Competition (TMC) national finals for the first time.

The competition was organised by the Fiji Mathematics Association on July 27, at St Joseph Secondary School.

School principal Shad Alfaz Ali said the victory was achieved through the concerted efforts of all stakeholders, including parents, teachers and the controlling authority of Rampur College, the Rampur Education Society.

“The students had invested a lot of their time in preparation for the competition and they were duly rewarded,” Mr Ali said.

“Victory was possible because the students wanted to make it happen, they were ready to go the extra mile and they were ready to explore beyond the horizon.”

The TMC takes places every year and is carried out in two folds. Schools participate at the Zone Level and the winners and second place getters at each level from Year Five to Year 13 qualify for the national finals.
