Vanuatu President Declares State of Emergency

The Declaration is for a period of seven days from the date on which the Order was made.

A State of Emergency has been declared by the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Moli Nikenike Vurobaravu Moliunavanua. 

“Due to the severe impacts caused by the earthquake on the 17th Decembber 2024, a State of Emergency is declared throughout the worst affected areas of Vanuatu,” Moliunavanua stated. 

This is in exercise to presidential powers according to subsection 32 (1) of the Disaster Risk Management Act No. 23 of 2019. 

The Declaration is for a period of seven days from the date on which the Order was made.
