The Vatiyaka community in Ba will soon have access to clean, piped water, thanks to the mains extension works being carried out by the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF).

The Vatiyaka extension works will improve the current infrastructure capacity and sustainability, enhance the supply of clean and safe water and eliminate the shortage of water during periods of drought.

The work has involved laying of 347 lengths of pipe, with proper bedding and backfill material. It included the installation of an air valve key and a four-inch sluice valve.

The work began on January 8, 2018, and is scheduled to be completed by the end of February 2018, at a cost of $160,125.

WAF continues to champion the provision of a sustainable supply of quality water to the people of Fiji.
