I guess it’s the hard work over the past few months of training that really paid off today and obviously my coach has been very supportive towards my preparation as well

Being injured and not able to run at the Coca-Cola Games last year motivated 17-year-old Yeshnil Karan to lift his performance this year.
Karan after claiming his second gold medal during Day 2 of the Coca-Cola Games said all things are possible if only they have faith.
The Yaladro, Tavua native ran a time of 9.19.02 minutes followed by Manoa Valeniyasana of Navatu Secondary School with a time of 9.44.92 mins while Amit Sharma of Vishnu Deo Memorial School finished third with 9.56.87 mins.
“I always believed in myself and never underestimated my potential and that is how I achieved my goal,” Karan said
“Last year was a disappointing year for me as I couldn’t compete because I had incurred some injury on my leg but I’m very happy to have come back and win two gold medals.
“I guess it’s the hard work over the past few months of training that really paid off today and obviously my coach has been very supportive towards my preparation as well.
“Next year will be my last year competing at the Coca-Cola Games and I hope to break the record by then.”
