Lomary Secondary School Under-18 girls has been crowned champions of the Southern Zone Secondary School Weet-Bix Raluve competition at the Suva Grammar School ground this afternoon (Saturday, September 10).

This was after they defeated their neighbour Ratu Latianara College, 20-5 in the final.

While Lomary is located at Galoa, Ratu Latianara sits next to Korovisilou Village in the province of Serua along the Queens hiway.

Lomary won the inaugural Vosailagi shield presented by former acting Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu soon after the final.

After beating Basden College in the quarterfinals two weeks ago Lomary head coach Josua Tawake said the girls participation was inspired by one of their old scholars Ana Maria Naimasi who is now representing the Fijiana 7s at Cape Town, Africa in the World Cup sevens tournament.

Originally from Galoa Village with maternal links to Nukutubu, Rewa; Naimasi has donned three national jumpers in the past decade.

The Fijiana 7s utility back represented Fiji in cricket, netball and rugby and has bagged several gold medals for Lomary at the Coca-Cola Games.

Lomary winger Elizabeth Waqavou was the player of the final.
