Nasinu Wary Of Suva Grammar School

Nasinu Secondary School Under-18 rugby team have set their eyes on the Southern Zone Vodafone Deans shield.

They take on defending zone champions Suva Grammar School on Saturday after defeating Marist Brother High School 20-10 in the semifinal at SGS ground on Saturday. SGS thrashed Gospel High School 50-13 in the second semifinal.

Nasinu and SGS have qualified for the national quarters while MBHS and GHS will play in the third place playoff; the winner will also qualify.

NSS captain Lorosio Qaranivalu said they will take each game at a time.

“Before the national quarters, we will focus on this week’s final against Suva Grammar School,” he said.

“We respect SGS. They are a champion side as they are the Southern Zone defending champions.

“We will try to win the Southern Zone."

“It was a tough win against MBHS. They gave us a good game but we thank God for the win.”

Qaranivalu added they were still trying to build combination within their side as most players were new.

“Only a few of us started with Nasinu since the Under 14 grade, we are trying to create a bond,” the Vatulele, Nadroga lad said.

“We thank our coach Manasa Rokotuiveikau, teachers and our parents for their support throughout the season.

“We will take one game at a time to achieve our goal. We always rely on the Bible verse James 4:10; Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord and He shall lift you up.”

• Under 14: Suva Grammar School 22-15 Marist Brothers High School.
• Under 14: Nasinu Secondary School 10 - 8 Ratu Sukuna Memorial School
• Under 16: Suva Grammar 22-0 Ratu Sukuna Memorial School
• Under 16: MBHS 10 - 5 NSS
• Under 18: NSS 20-10 MBHS
• Under 18: SGS 50-13 GHS
