Halfback TJ Perenara is out to set a new Super Rugby try scoring record in Suva tonight. Perenara tops the Super Rugby’s all-time try scoring list with 62 and wants his first try on Fiji soil to be a memorable one.

The 32-year-old said he is on a mission to do just that.

Perenara told SUNsports yesterday that he missed the experience of playing in Fiji last year after he got injured.

The Hurricanes veteran with 155 Super Rugby games under his belt knows the importance of beating the Drua on their home turf.

He said his recovery went well ever since his surgery and this motivated him to return to playing competitive rugby.

“My recovery and progression has been great and I’m fit to play this week.”

Perenara believes there is still room for improvement and growth for the current Hurricanes squad.

He said they would play open rugby if there is an opportunity to do so.

“We will try to take the space if it is given to us to run in those gaps.”

Perenara said they want to avenge last year’s loss to the Drua. The match kicks-off at 7.05pm.
