Thailand welterweight boxer Jomyuth Sor Narongchai is here for business and not pleasure. He made his intention known when he tipped the scale at 66.8 kilogrammes for tonight’s 10-round fight against Sebastian ‘The Sniper’ Singh at the Suva Lami Bay Novotel’s Convention Centre.
Narongchai a former Thailand amateur boxer is yet to win his first professional fight. The 30-year-old who hails from North East Thailand works as a professional personal trainer in Bangkok.
“I will do my best tomorrow,” he said.
“I came here to fight and show all Fijians how good I am and will do better than the previous fights. I’m happy to be here on my first overseas fight and I’m excited to be here in Fiji.”
The former kick boxer said he knows of ways on how to handle Singh.
“He’s good in his movement but I know the way to cut the links,” he said.
Singh has taken the challenge and said he wanted to put all critics to rest. He was being criticised when he pulled out from his fight against Brent ‘Sugar’ Dames that was to be staged at the Novotel Suva Lami Convention Centre on February 2.
“I was supposed to fight Brent but week before the fight I pulled out because I got dengue fever so I couldn’t fight, I was dehydrated,” Singh said.
“There were lots of talks but now I’m happy to be here again no matter what I have to do my country proud and put critics to rest.”
Singh weighed in at 67.4kg and has great respect for Narongchai.
“Looking at him, he’s not here for holidays but one thing is in my mind I will continue to hoist Fiji’s flag and do my country proud,” he said.
The fight starts at 7pm.
