Vodafone Fiji Under-20 Team Named For Oceania Championship

Vodafone Fiji Under-20 Coach Kele Leawere has named his final 30 member squad for the Oceania Championship which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia later this month.

Leawere has put in an experienced squad consisting of nine players who won the World Rugby Pacific Challenge Cup with the Swire Shipping Fiji Warriors last month.

These players include skipper and hooker Tevita Ikanivere, Livai Natave, Jovesa Nasaroa, Taniela Ramasibana, Alivereti Loaloa, Simione Kuruvole, Caleb Muntz, Veresa Tuqovu, Osea Waqa

Coach Kele Leawere said “After nine weeks of training and playing against the top provincial clubs like Suva, Namosi and Nadroga it was then possible to select this bunch of talented players.”

“We have been impressed with the commitment shown by the players. They are very dedicated and have always been giving one hundred percent in the training.”

Leawere said “Out of the 30 players in the squad, only five players were part of the squad which won the World Rugby Junior Trophy in Romania last year.”

The Vodafone Fijian Under-20 side plays New Zealand in its first game at 7pm on 26th of April then four days later they face Australia at 9pm. They take on Japan final match at 7pm on the 4th of May.
