Dauloloma: It’s up to the promoter

Negotiation on the purse of Fiji heavyweight champion Semi Dauloloma to defend the title against James Singh on September 19 at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka, is currently on.

Speaking to SUNsports yesterday, Dauloloma said he has agreed to defend the title against Singh after discussions with King Boxing Promotions promoter Nahroon Buksh on Monday night.

“I’ve agreed to defend the title against James Singh on September 19,” Dauloloma, who hails from Vanuavatu in Lau said.

“Now talks are going on with the promoter on how much I will be paid. We’re hoping to finalise that soon. If the promoter agrees to pay me on what we want, I will fight under his promotion. If the promoter refuses, then I will not be fighting.”

The Ba-based boxer currently holds the Fiji and the Leweni Waqa heavyweight titles.

Dauloloma also highlighted that he was a bit reluctant to give Singh the opportunity for a title fight after he was knocked in the first round by Tevita Pomale in Melbourne, Australia, last Saturday night.

“I felt like not giving him (Singh) a chance but we do face a lot of circumstances and I have given him another chance.

“If James Singh loses this fight, then he needs to retire from boxing,” he said.

Dauloloma also indicated that after defending the title against Singh on September 19, then he wants to fight Joseph Kwadjo in November.

“For the fight against Kwadjo, I want it staged in my hometown of Ba in November.

“The reason I want our fight in Ba because my mother is from there and I was raised there.”

For now, Dauloloma said preparation for his title defence against Singh is on track and he is looking forward to fighting him at his backyard.
