Resort owners invest in local skills, island hospitality
The resort is focused on improving its facilities and enhancing the comfort and experience offered to guests.

Aroha Resort Taveuni Beachfront Bures owners are blending island hospitality with new experiences while helping to grow Taveuni's tourism offering.
Operating a resort on an island comes with challenges, but owners Rod Kennedy and Kathryn Wilkinson remain committed to growing their business and supporting local staff.
Mr Kennedy said managing a resort in Taveuni required dedication, particularly when it came to maintenance and accessing resources on the island.

"We took over the resort from the previous owners, and we also have a restaurant named Kai Time Restaurant," Mr Kennedy said.
He said the couple took over the resort from a New Zealand couple who built and operated the property for 18 years.
"We have carried on what they have done and made some slight improvements, including bringing barista coffee to the island. I have a coffee background and I have brought that to the island," he said.
Mr Kennedy said he had spent considerable time training local staff to improve their skills, including becoming baristas.

"Our chefs aren't industry trained or qualified, however deliver high end food equalling standards in any high end restaurant or resort kitchens in Fiji," he said.
He said the resort offered guests ocean views, friendly service and a wide range of food options.
"We consider ourselves high-end affordable accommodation. We feel we are delivering five-star service," he said.
Mr Kennedy said the resort was focused on improving its facilities and enhancing the comfort and experience offered to guests.
"We are proud of ourselves with the service and the comforts we are giving on the grounds. We are trying to upgrade the designs on the grounds," he said.
He said the resort's progress would not have been possible without the support of its local employees.
"Also the progress of the resort would not be possible without asssitance from our local staff & supported by the Local community & Expat communities on the island frequenting the restaurant. There are 15 staff in total," he said.
Mr Kennedy said the resort continued to face daily challenges while operating on the island.
"Network isn't an issue here because we invested in Starlink, so we have got high-speed Starlink internet here," he said.
