While many people look forward to weekends, Shilpa Shewani spends every day behind her stall at Tavakubu Market, Lautoka, serving customers with fresh vegetables and root crops.
The 31-year-old Link Road resident opens her stall at 7am and closes at 6.30pm every day of the week.
For Ms Shewani, market trading is more than a source of income. It is a livelihood she takes pride in and a responsibility she is committed to.

She said the market provided everything she needed to run her business and had made her experience as a vendor a positive one.
"Everything is right here. There is no need for anything else. There is no problem. You can come, you can sell, and you can go," she said.
Unlike many people who enjoy weekends and public holidays, Ms Shewani works seven days a week to ensure customers have access to fresh produce.
She specialises in vegetables and root crops and has become a familiar face among regular shoppers at Tavakubu Market.
Although the hours are long, she said the work was rewarding because it allowed her to earn an honest living while serving the community.
Her story reflects the commitment of many market vendors across Fiji who work long hours, often with few breaks, to support their families. Through all weather conditions, they continue to provide fresh produce while contributing to local food security and the economy.
For Ms Shewani, dedication is simply part of the job.
Each day begins with the same goal — opening her stall, welcoming customers and working until it is time to pack up for the evening.
