Three officers face High Court over PC Racagi's death

The three police officers charged for the murder of Police Constable Peniasi Racagi will appear before the High Court in Suva later this month.
Simione Rokosemudu, Iowane Sukanaisoro and Ilisoni Waqa made their first appearance before Senior Resident Magistrate Sufia Hamza at the Suva Magistrate Court on Friday for a count of murder each.
It was alleged that sometime between February 21 and 22, this year, the three with another aided and abetted the killing of the late PC Racagi in Lami.

The court corridors were packed on Friday morning with families of the accused, Police officers and media anticipating the case of public interest.
All three officers opted for Legal Aid Commission, upon which lawyer, Mesake Waqavanua came on board to represent them.
Office of the Director of Public Prosecution’s Principal Legal Officer Sadaf Shameem served full disclosures to all three accused.
The court further remanded them until their first appearance at the High Court on October 23.
