Preparations are underway for the India Sanmarga Ikya (TISI) Sangam’s 92nd annual convention in Lautoka next month.

The convention will be held during the Easter weekend.

TISI Sangam national president Sadasivan Naicker said they were expecting 32 soccer teams in the super premier competition, 24 in premier and 20 veteran teams.

Mr Naicker said there would be 12 teams from overseas.

“There will be 16 women’s teams for the netball and volleyball competition. We will also have a golf tournament in Denarau on Sunday, athletics, tennis, snooker and tug of war,” he said.

“For the first time we will have a curtain raiser match between Fiji and Australia for those above 50 years.

“We are expecting 12,000 to 15,000 people from Fiji and overseas to attend the convention. A lot of people from Australia, New Zealand, Canada and USA have booked their airline tickets to come.”

Mr Naicker said he was aware that the organisation’s Lautoka branch has been working hard to organise the convention.

He said the organisation was looking forward to support from the people of Lautoka.
