Disability Gala Awards Recognises Extraordinary Six
As Fiji commits to move from recognition to realisation of the rights of persons with disabilities, we acknowledge our nations commitment in “leaving no one behind."

The nation’s first Disability Gala Awards were held last night at the Holiday Inn Suva commemorating the achievements of six extraordinary individuals.
Speaking at the event, Minister for Health and Medical Services Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete said the awards night was in celebration of the extraordinary individuals who rose above the odds to produce excellently in their disciplines.
“As Fiji commits to move from recognition to realisation of the rights of persons with disabilities, we acknowledge our nations commitment in “leaving no one behind,” Dr Waqainabete said.

He also made a special acknowledgment of the parents who were looking after a child with special needs and the grandparents and relatives looking after a person with disabilities.
The event was hosted by the United Blind Persons of Fiji.
