A team of Police officers carried out house-to-house investigations at Saweni in Lautoka yesterday to verify claims of a teenage boy being kidnapped.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said investigators had recorded the statement of a 13-year-old boy.

Ms Naisoro said officers conducted the house-to-house visitations to gather more information surrounding the alleged incident.

She said the team continued to liaise with medical authorities. It was also awaiting results from tests conducted on the alleged use of drugs.

Police officers were expected to speak with the boy and his parents last night with the hope that he may have recalled a few more details.

There were claims on social media that the boy was forced into a van in Saweni on Saturday by two men after being given a lolly pop.

Also, there were claims that the boy saw a girl in a fridge in the van and he then escaped.

This prompted a Police investigation into the claims.

Police will issue a statement today on the investigations.
