A car wash owner in Nasinu has described hearing a loud bang moments before a minivan crashed into his business after colliding with a truck.

Mohammed Ayub Khan, 63, owner of Shine and Go Viti Car Wash, in Vesida said he had just switched off the engine of his car at about 12.30pm today when the crash occurred.

"As soon as I stopped the engine, I heard a loud boom," Mr Khan said.

"When I looked up, I saw the minibus beside my car after the crash."

Mr Khan said there was only one passenger in the minivan at the time of the collision, in addition to the driver.

He said the driver got out of the vehicle immediately after the crash, while a young boy who had been sitting in the front passenger seat ran from the scene.

He said a taxi travelling towards Suva was also involved in the collision.

"After the impact, the truck veered off the road, while the taxi driver later went to the police station," Mr Khan said.

Although no injuries were reported, Mr Khan said his parked vehicle sustained minor paint damage after debris from the collision struck one side of the car.

"It all happened very quickly. The debris hit my car at the same time as the crash," he said.

Police are investigating the incident.
