Former Social Democratic Liberal Party Opposition member Nikolau Nawaikula is pushing for constitutional redress regarding the amendment to the iTaukei Land Trust Act 2021.

He appeared before Judge Justice Dane Tuiqereqere at the High Court in Suva on Monday.

Nawaikula told the court his pursuit of this case was imperative because it involved the rights of landowners to give consent for their land.

He claimed the 2013 Constitution took away the rights of landowners to give consent to their own land.
