At tertiary level, Nihaal Vikash Prasad, 18, plans to study cyber security.

The Year 13 student, who was named Dux of Sangam Sadhu Kuppuswamy Memorial College (SSKMC) in Nadi yesterday, always had a passion for technology and computers.

“I am passionate about learning new things. I am planning to study a bachelor’s degree in cyber security because I love arbor technology,” Nihaal said.

“I believe that field is much needed in a developing country like Fiji. The area of study in cyber security is best suited for me as a personal and professional development tool as well.”

He was brought up by his grandparents, and despite losing his grandfather last year during the COVID-19 pandemic, Nihaal said his teaching remained with him.

“My grandpa taught me to be myself, not to give up easily, and to always strive for the best,” he said.

Proud grandmother Madhuma Prasad praised Nihaal for his accomplishments at school.

His mother, Vikashni Prasad, said: I am glad he was brought up by my parents because they instilled in him the good qualities of life to reach this far, she said.
