Reverend Doctor Jolami Lasawa will lead the Methodist Church in Fiji from 2027 after being elected president-elect at the church’s 2026 Annual Conference in Suva.
Rev Dr Lasawa will succeed current president Reverend Doctor Semisi Turagavou when he assumes office next year.
In his first address following the election, Rev Dr Lasawa said he was humbled by the confidence and trust placed in him by the church.

“I am humbled and fully embrace this challenge with open arms, with God’s help,” Rev. Dr. Lasawa said.
He acknowledged the responsibility that came with leading the Methodist Church in Fiji and said he and his family were prepared for the task.
“This is a responsibility that my family and I are ready to carry on,” he said.
His election comes as the church continues its focus on spiritual renewal, discipleship and service to communities in Fiji and abroad.
The Methodist Church congratulated Rev Dr Lasawa and his family and called on its members and the wider Christian community to pray for him as he prepares to take over the leadership in 2027.
The church said: “May the Lord who calls also equip and strengthen His servant for the task ahead.”
