The Tui Nayau, Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara, has challenged delegates at the Lau Provincial Council meeting to move beyond discussions and ensure development plans are translated into tangible results.
Ratu Tevita said the province had no shortage of ideas or funding opportunities. Instead, he said, the greatest challenge was delivering projects.
He said he had heard about the amount of funding available to the province but questioned whether development initiatives were being effectively implemented.

"The plans are there and the resources are there. What matters now is putting words into action," he told delegates at the conclusion of the meeting yesterday.
Ratu Tevita urged district representatives, community leaders and stakeholders to take ownership of the province's development agenda and ensure projects were completed for the benefit of the people of Lau.
Delegates were presented with a strategic five-year development plan outlining major initiatives, including a hotel and an arts village in Deuba. The projects are expected to create economic opportunities while promoting Lau's cultural heritage.
Ratu Tevita welcomed the long-term vision but reminded delegates that success would ultimately be measured by what was achieved on the ground.
He said the province could no longer afford to revisit the same proposals year after year without making meaningful progress.
"When we gather again for the next Provincial Council meeting, I want us to be talking about what has been accomplished, not repeating the same plans we are discussing today," he said.
Ratu Tevita encouraged delegates to work together, remain accountable and ensure development efforts delivered lasting benefits for present and future generations of Lau people.
