The Water Authority of Fiji’s Wastewater Unit has repaired a burst sewer main that was washing out the approach to Navutu Bridge in Lautoka.

As a result of the burst main and the risk it posed, traffic was restricted to one lane only last weekend by the Fiji Roads Authority.

However, it was back to the normal two-lane yesterday afternoon after the repairs were carried out.

WAF spokesperson Peni Shute confirmed that the authority’s team completed repairs at the site.

Mr Shute said the authority’s team worked over the weekend to fix the problem.

“The heavy rain experienced in Lautoka at the weekend was an obstacle, but the team managed to pull it off,” he said.
