Woman, Partner Appear For Alleged Murder Of Two-Year-Old Infant

A woman, charged in relation to the alleged murder of her two-year-old daughter appeared at the Nasinu Magistrate Court with her partner who is her co-accused in the case.

Christopher Narayan, 28 and Louisa Maria Kumar, 20, appeared before Magistrate Sufia Hamza yesterday.

They are each charged with one count of murder. They are both remanded in custody.

It is alleged that on March 4, 2019 in the Central Division they murdered the two-year-old daughter of Kumar.

Narayan and Kumar have both opted for Legal Aid Commission lawyers to represent them.

Police Prosecutor, Preeti Prasad told the court that it was an indictable offence and must be transferred to the High Court.

Prosecutor Prasad added that any bail matter must also be dealt with at the High Court.

Information and disclosures was served to both the accused.

The case has been adjourned to March 22 at the High Court in Suva.
