“I was confident about my performance and I knew that I would be selected as the school’s headboy,” 14-year-old Shivan Prasad said.
Newly inducted Makoi Muslim Primary School headboy Shivan Prasad said his performance in school made him feel confident he would be picked for the position.

Shivan was one of the 47 inductees during the school’s prefect induction ceremony in Nasinu yesterday.
The prefects would ensure the discipline of the students was their first priority in the school with a roll of 346 students and 10 teachers.
Headgirl Alena Tobey, 14, of Gau in Lomaiviti, was surprised to be elected as the school’s headgirl.
She was surprised and shocked when she was voted to be the new headgirl of the school. Previously she was a prefect.
Alena said she would follow the rules and regulations to ensure other colleagues followed her.
“I will manage my time wisely in order to be good in academics and fulfill my duties as a headgirl,” Alena said.
The Makoi Muslim Primary School also launched the new Health Promoting School banner yesterday.
The theme was Promoting Health and Well-being of Children through Education for a Healthier Population.
The school’s head teacher, Farook Ali, said that they were very fortunate to be advocates for health promotion.
“We are very committed towards safeguarding our health,” said Mr Ali.
New Banner
Alena said the launching of a new banner about health of children in school was a positive move.
“The students were told to bring fruits to school and balanced meals to be healthy every time,” Alena said.
The Headboy Shivan said the launch would benefit the students a lot by keeping them healthy and active in class. The school has planned to make children bring balanced meals throughout the week.
