Defending champions Blues FC walloped Downtown Blues FC 4-0 in round two of KK’s Hardware Nadi Football Local League’s super premier grade at Prince Charles Park, Nadi yesterday.
Blues FC who are also the 2017 Vodafone National Club champions fielded Nadi reps William Valentine, Afraz Ali, Zainal Ali, Mohammed Salmeen, and goalkeeper Samuela Tamanisau. They had too much firepower as they led 3-0 at the breather. Blues FC captain Salmeen said their aim is to win the local league and defend the NCC title.
“Last week unfortunately we drew our first game and we hope to remain unbeaten this season,” he said.
Downtown Blues manager Anil Dutt was gracious in defeat indicating it was a good game against a very good side.
“Compared to last week’s match we were struggling in playing 90 minutes football.
“Majority of our players are new and we hope to improve in the next game.”
In other matches played in the premier grade the Shivnesh Padayachi captained- Charles Engineering Nawaka Lions FC beat M. Iqbal Gandhi Lionz Two FC 3-1 after leading 2-0 at the break.
In a thriller Southern Cross FC beat Backstreet Brothers Saunaka FC 3-2.
Local League director Mohammed Nasir said only three games were played because of bad weather.
