The Cakaudrove women’s rugby players are tasked to work on their weaknesses as they prepare for the second promotion relegation match against Navosa this weekend.

This was the gist of head coach Ana Seru’s interview with SUNsports yesterday.

“We will regroup and try to win this second game against Navosa to keep our chances of qualifying for the Marama Cup alive,” Seru said.

“There is not much change in our training, we are just tightening up some loose ends, working on our weaknesses.

“The players are eager on taking on Navosa again and are hopeful in getting to the next stage.”

Seru said two of her players suffered injuries in their game against Tailevu and will sit out during their match against Navosa.

“I’ll have to pull in three extra players to come on board for this weekend’s match,” she said.

“We’ll be travelling to Sigatoka tomorrow (today) and we’ll be camping at Sigatoka Hall in Nadroga.”

Seru said they will not underestimate a wounded Navosa side that was thrashed 69 – 12 by Kadavu last week.

“We will need to improve our lineout, scrum and attacking line in this crucial match,” she said.

“Giving away penalties, high tackles and missed tackles cost us the game against Tailevu last week.”

Seru said she was glad that the players had stuck to their game plan against Tailevu despite their narrow 37 – 34 loss last week.

“I advised the players to be strong to ensure that we win, play good rugby and enjoy the game,” she said.

“We do feel pressure but we’re working on it to ensure that we win both games.”

Seru said she hopes the Cakaudrove fans will come and support their side against Navosa.

The match between Cakaudrove and Navosa kicks off at 9am on ground one at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka.
