NetGo Fiji sports development officer Raijieli Rabitu conducted the first umpiring clinic for the youths in the Northern Division at the Scouts Hall in Labasa on Friday.
“It is a Youth Leadership Programme targeted for young people who wants to umpire or upgrade their skills,” Rabitu said.
“We want to get in more youths, more females as there has been a lot of males which is also fine because the interest is there.
“Through this programme, we’re trying to get in more umpires as a starting pathway.
“There is a good turnout of young participants and I can see that they want to learn more.
Dreketi Central College Henry Raymond, 18, was pleased to be part of the clinic.
He said he had gained more knowledge on how to umpire and hoping to gain experience through the netball club games held in the northern division.
