Fiji javelin pair win silver

Fiji Under-18 javelin throwers took out the silver medals in the boy’s and girl’s finals of the Oceania Athletics Championship in Darwin, Australia, yesterday.

Ebenezer Saukuru threw a personal best of 62.16m in the boy’s final to finish second and so was Salanieta Vereivalu with a distance of 47.08 in the girl’s division.

Also grabbing the third silver medal was Iosefo Rakai (F41) in the Ambulant men’s javelin with a throw of 27.81m.

Meanwhile, on Day One, Jeremiah Rogo clocked 47.84s to finish 3rd in the Open Men’s 400m heats where he qualified for the finals.

Setareki Dawai in the U18 boys’ shotput threw 17.10m to finish 4th in the finals while David Savea threw 13.32m to finish at 11th place.

In the Open Men’s Long Jump finals, Frederico Miller jumped 6.55m to finish 6th while Waisiki Komainaqoro finished 10th with a 6.36m jump.

Loata Lewageena threw 42.92m to finish 6th in the Open Women’s javelin. In the Girls U18 100 metres final saw Sera Nasilivata finishing 5th.

Jimi Onitoro (T46) finished 8th in the Ambulant Men’s 100m Heat 3. He finished 21st overall. Onitoro also finished 5th in the Ambulant Men’s Long Jump- Flight 1 with the jump of 4.96m.
