Lucky escape for Suva as they eye home semifinal

Ram Sami Suva has avenged its loss to Tailevu in the second round. Suva edged Tailevu, 10-6, at Ratu Cakobau Park, Nausori, today.

They are back in the top four and will contest to defend their Skipper Fiji Rugby Championship title.

It was a slow start for the two sides having a tryless first half.

Suva led 3-0 in the 16th minute from a penalty by first five eighth Jone Manu. Four minutes later, Tailevu levelled the scores with a penalty and followed by another before they went into halftime.

Halftime: Suva 3-6 Tailevu

Suva centre Watisoni Sevutia scored the first try for the Capital City side and they led 10-6 after a successful conversion from Manu.

The scores remain unchanged right to the final whistle.

Comment: Suva manager, Nemani Tuifagalele said: "This win was crucial for us. It was a battle of remaining in the top four.

"That’s the objective right now as we push on with the three remaining games. We are here to defend the Skipper so it was important for us to win this game.”
