The Josua Raqoro captained- Queen Victoria School is the team to beat in the grand final of the Vodafone Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby League Championship Under-17 division at Prince Charles Park, Nadi, next Saturday.
This was QVS side drew 10-10 with Ba Provincial Freebird Institute after sudden death in the semi-final at the same venue. Both teams were locked 10-10 at full-time.
QVS tries came from dummy-half Joseva Suguturaga and winger Asivorosi Kete with the conversion from Isikeli Bari.
Ba Provincial Freebird Institute’s try came from winger Josua Lotu and the conversion from full back Jese Saukuru.
QVS led 10-6 at the breather.
In the second spell, Ba Pro came back with a try to second row Josese Ratu but they had to blame themselves for not playing smart rugby league.
Raqoro said: "We knew it would be a tough one, but we were fit, and we were encouraged to play hard and up our defence well."
In the other match, Tevita Delaibau was the toast of the Marist Brother High School side as he dashed to score winning try in the corner to seal the 22-20 victory over Natabua High School.
MBHS captain Saimoni Uluimoala said: "We knew that it won't be an easy match against Natabua but we had to give our best.
‘It did pay off as the boys had to stick to the game plan and also play to the last whistle."
