West Dolphins won the Vodafone Nines 2018 rugby league title on debut at Lawaqa Park, Sigatoka yesterday.
The Nadi-based side scored twice in the 10- 6 victory over Topline Warriors of Lautoka. The Dolphins led 6-0 at halftime.
Semisi Tora, Kaliova Nalibu scored and Eremodo Tuili kicked the conversion.
Lambert Railumu scored and kicked the conversion for the Warriors.
West Dolphins co-founder Chris Tomlinson praised his team for clinching the title on debut.
“We had an objective to perform on debut and the boys did it,” he said.

“We started the season on a good note and we look forward to the rest of the season. It was a grand competition.”
Dolphins won $3000 and Warriors collected $1500 for their effort.
Best player of the tournament was won by West Dolphins winger Vilikesa Beka.
A total of 24 teams participated in the one day event.
In the Cup semi-final, Dolphins beat Nadera Panthers 8-4 while Warriors beat Coastline Roos 12- 4.
Meanwhile, Saru Dragons of Lautoka took out the Plate final after a 8 - 0 win over Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles.
In the semifinal Saru Dragons beat Makoi Bulldogs 20- 0 and Namuaniwaqa Sea Eagles beat Burenitu Cowboys 8-4.
