The Westerland Natadra Young Boys are all set to play in this weekend’s Fiji Bitter Marist 7s at the ANZ Stadium, Suva.

Speaking to SUNsports, team official Semi Daugunu said they are grateful to the owners of the inter-island ferry MV Westerland for their support in taking the team over to Viti Levu.

“The team is named after our mataqali in Saqani and consist mostly of our young men with a few more boys joining in,” Daugunu said.

“The team was recently formed and we played in our first tournament at the Gaunvaou 7s where we won it.

“Then again we played in the Ucunipotu 7s where we reached the Cup final.”

Daugunu said it was there they decided to take the team across to Viti Levu where they played at the Waimanu 7s.

“The team are now camping in Suva and have been training hard. We’ve got a few more boys joining the team and they should be okay when the tournament starts.

“Playing in the Marist 7s is a big learning ground for our boys and at the same time they could show their talents as well,” he added.
