The Peni Tubakibau-coached Vodafone Fijian Women Rugby League 9s team is aiming to claim the inaugural gold medal at the Pacific Games in Apia, Samoa on July 7-20.
Section manager Jacqueline Shannon said the team preparations on track.
“Fiji will face stiff competition against Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Cook Islands which have included overseas players based in Australia and New Zealand.

“Nevertheless, the team is focused on the task at hand and will give their best for a podium finish.”
The team initially consisted of 38 members after trials in December before it was reduced to 20 after the second trial.
“ After three camps we have now selected our final 15 players to travel to Samoa in July,”Shannon said.
The 15-member team will be announced by the Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee (FASANOC) later this month.
The team officials are Peni Tubakibau (head coach), Linda Shannon (assistant coach) and Jacqueline Shannon (manager).
