“The two bottom teams from the Tier 1 were relegated to Tier 2 for the next tournament and the two top teams from Tier 2 go up automatically,” he said.
“The two teams to be watched in the Tier 1 are Suva Warriors and Kabara. They are the top seed teams from each pool. While in the Tier 2 we have Komo and Namuka.”
Nawaciono said Suva and Kabara are the two teams to beat. He said the Easter tournament consists mainly of the maritime teams.
“Most of the cricket teams are coming from the island associations of Cicia, Lakeba, Moce, Namuka-i-Lau, Fulaga and Ka-bara. They are joined by Nadi and
Suva,” he said.
Nawaciono said the semi-finals are played today with the finals on Saturday.
He said their Easter tournament was important as it allows them to finalise the teams for the EAP qualifiers in Japan.
“We hope to finish everything by Saturday, and we’ll finalise the 14-member national team that will
e going for the EAP qualifiers to Japan and it will also be announced on Saturday,” he said.
“We’ve introduced a Super 8 tour-nament.
“That will be held sometime around August and September.
“It will be a carry forward from this tournament and whoever is promoted from here, will be promoted to the Super 8.”
