The Fiji Water Flying Fijians interim head coach Senirusi Seruvakula has urged Fijians to remain patient as his side looks to bounce back against Scotland this weekend.
During a zoom interview on Wednesday, Seruvakula admitted Sunday’s 8-73 defeat to England was disappointing, however, they have put the result behind them and are fully focused on the Scottish.
“We did not expect that result, so everyone was disappointed,” Seruvakula added.

“But this is rugby. One team wins and the other loses. We have to move forward.
“Have patience. Believe in these players and believe in the leadership. We are doing everything we can to get better and produce a strong performance against Scot-land.”
Seruvakula said the coaching staff analysed the England match before allowing the players time away from rugby.
“We sat down with the leadership group, reviewed the game and then gave the players time together away from the hotel. They came back refreshed and the energy around the group has been really positive.”
He acknowledged Fiji’s biggest shortcomings had been at the set-piece and in discipline, areas the team has targeted during training this week.
He said improving discipline would also be critical against Scotland.
“We cannot afford yellow or red cards at this level. Against tier one teams - those mistakes will cost you.”
Seruvakula said criticism following the England defeat was understandable and accepted responsibility as head coach.
“At the end of the day, the head coach carries the responsibility. I accept the criticism because of last week’s result.”
However, he reminded supporters that the current squad was still in the early stages of its campaign.
“This is only our second week together.
“We are playing Six Nations teams who have spent much long-er preparing together.
“We have to start somewhere. The World Cup is next year and this is part of that journey.”
Seruvakula also dismissed suggestions of problems within the camp, saying the players and management remained united.
“Our relationship is really tight. The players, coaches and staff are connected, and everyone is working hard to improve.”
He called on supporters to continue believing in the squad.
The match kicks off at 1am on Sunday at Murrayfield, Edinburgh.
