We’re here to win Vuvale Bowl: Legge

Interim Vodafone Fijiana XVs head coach Mike Legge is confident they will have a good run against the Wallaroos as they challenge the Vuvale Bowl at GIO Stadium, Canberra tonight.

The match kicks off at 5:55pm.

“We’re not here to just participate in the Vuvale Bowl, we’re coming to win and create some history,” Legge said.

“It’s really important that we put out a really great performance to set the benchmark for us for the rest of the year and also moving forward.

“We really want to integrate our identity in terms of how we play the game. We are going to come out with the real Fijiana mentality and continue our morale from the women’s Rugby World Cup.”

Legge who is heading the side for the first time, acknowledged the senior players for guiding the young ones.

He named four uncapped players including Nasinu women’s captain and national sevens player Silika Qalo. Qalo will start at the wing with Repeka Tove.

“Bitila (Tawake) and more experienced players have really stepped up. They have bonded the group really well.

“We’ve trained the girls really hard for the past five weeks, this week was about clarity.”

The three other possible debutants are Zipporah Sorokacika, Adi Keri Lawavou and Vika Nakacia; they are named on the bench.

“Zipporah (Sorokacika) and the rest have earned their spot in this team, they have been working hard since last year. They put themselves in position to get selected,” Legge added.
