Over 100 swimmers are expected to participate in tomorrow’s Fiji Swimming Grand Prix One at Suva’s Damodar Aquatic Centre.

Fiji Swimming president Lucy Erasito said most of the swimmers taking part are from Suva, Nadi and Lautoka.

“The event is our first of the year and is leading up to the selection for our Oceania aquatics event coming up in May,” Erasito said.

“We had all our students from the various clubs participate.”

Fiji will host the Oceania Aquatics Championships from May 8–14.

“It’s a long course event. We have three Grand Prix in the year. We have Grand Prix one, two and three. This is a qualifying event getting into the na-tionals.”

Erasito said the nationals are to be held in April and June.

“It’s for swimmers between the ages of nine right to the open category. I urge members of the public to come and watch the swimmers since there will be no admission.”

The event is from at 8am to 5pm.
