The top job at Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji is finally being advertised, a year after the office of the chief executive was vacated.

Acting chairman, David Kolitagane, has held the fort since.

In April, 2021, industry stakeholders said communications had to go through Mr Kolitagane’s office, after Simon Gravenall returned to Australia.

Less than a year into office, Mr Gravenall returned to Australia.

He took up office in September, 2020.

He was the second expatriate to leave the post, after Neil Slack resigned in February 2015.

Mr Slack joined MSAF in 2012.

Industry stakeholders maintain that the post would be best held by a local expert.

Application period for the post closes on May 13, 2022.
