FIJI Water has put on hold its redundancy process in compliance with the ongoing court proceedings.

That was confirmed yesterday by the Wonderful Company senior manager public relations and communications, Edwina Chand.

The Wonderful Company owns and produces iconic brands, including FIJI Water.

FIJI Water was an injunction order by the High Court in Lautoka.

The National Union Workers as plaintiff had filed for an injunction on the company following the alleged redundancy of 50 workers.

Lautoka High Court Judge Justice Mohamed Mackie has issued this order as follows:

  • The Natural Waters of Fiji Limited as defendant and/or her servants and /or her guests be restrained from proceeding with the redundancy of union members and/or workers;
  • The order above is to be in forced till December 10. The order made on Wednesday be sealed and served forthwith the defendants together with the summons and affidavit in support; and
  • The matter is returnable on November 10.

“We can confirm that we have paused our redundancy process in compliance with the ongoing court proceedings,” Ms Chand said.

“Our business operations continue as normal as we work through this matter as quickly as possible and focus on ensuring consistency for our business and employees.

“As this matter is now before the court, we will provide no further comments at this time.”
