Sera Tolunadakai of Muanivatu Settlement in Vatuwaqa was elated yesterday when she checked her M-PAiSA to see $180 topped up into her account.

The cash assistance is part of Government’s inflation mitigation payout that was announced in the 2022-2023 National Budget in July.

The mother of three stays home while her husband is the sole breadwinner.

The assistance is for her daughter, Reapi Waitalea, a student of John Wesley Primary School.

“From the money, I was able to buy my daughter’s sports uniform and other essentials,” she said.

She hopes to apply for additional assistance for her younger son.

Yesterday many families across the country received the first batch of the $180 assistance for their children while others received it as they are part of the social welfare scheme.
