The Lautoka Magistrates Court yesterday denied bail for three men accused of aggravated robbery and serious assault on a police officer
Waisale Matea, 28, Livai Matea 36 and Falewai Baleiono, 33 appeared before Magistrate Mosese Naivalu charged with two counts each of the above offences.
The court heard that on February 3 near the Anupam Theatre in Lautoka, the three suspects were allegedly involved with a group of people drinking alcohol.

They allegedly assaulted a police officer and allegedly stole his wallet. Constable Shammi Chand who represented the State told the court she objected to bail and that the accused were a threat to the public safety.
The court heard that the three accused had a variation in their interview. Magistrate Naivalu told the court that the accused persons committed serious offences and there was a need to protect the witness.
The three accused persons were remanded and their case has been transferred to the Lautoka High Court for mention on February 16.
