Farmers to Benefit From $1m Relief Fund

The initiative will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture over the next six months.

More than a thousand farmers will benefit from the United Nations Central Emergency Relief Fund of $1 million.

This was announced by UN Resident Coordinator, Sanaka Samarasinha at Votua, Lekutu Bua yesterday.

Mr Samarasinha while making the announcement said he was happy to be working with the Fijian Government and stakeholders after Tropical Cyclone Yasa made landfall in Vanua Levu.

The initiative will be implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture over the next six months.

Agriculture Minister Mahendra Reddy said a total of 3,400 farmers (1,200 fishing communities and 2,200 agricultural farmers) will benefit from the Fund.
