The Fiji Islands Guides Association is working in collaboration with the elders of Navala Village in Ba to restore their iconic Bures.
Fiji Islands Guides Association treasurer/secretary Joe Dalituicama said that there is a shortage of manpower due to westernisation and urban drift.
He said, the main objective is to rebuild and renovate the bures in Navala.

“We have spoken to the elders and they say it is tough for them to get the materials together as a lot of boys have gone to urban areas and some gone overseas.”
He added that the village loses its sole tourist attraction if this restoration does not take place.
“Also this is to preserve this iconic village where we can take these tourists to and also as an indigenous Fijian this plays a very important role in the conservation of our culture and tradition as a whole,” he said.
“We are working with Tourism Fiji and we are ready to move forward,” he said.
