Over the years Bocalevu Muslim Primary School allowed football district teams to use the playground for training and for Fiji Football Association’s league games.
School’s head teacher Mohammed Gani says they realised they could support the greater community of Macuata and therefore decided to upgrade their playground facilities.
With plans to have floodlights, Mr Gani said this would allow the school to cater for night events including football.

With kind donations from Jameer Hussain, the director of Fatima’s Restaurant and Sheik Elliyas last month, the school management was able to carry out the ground breaking ceremony.
Mr Gani said this was their first income generating project and they were planning to install six poles with a total of 4800 watts lights.
The cost of the project will be around $25,000. The school had been damaged by Tropical Cyclone Yasa in 2020.
Mr Gani thanked Mr Hussain, a former Labasa resident and his friend Mr Elliyas for the first contribution toward this project of $1500.
He hopes more people could join assist in the project.
The school built in 1996 is about eight kilometres from Labasa Town and has a student roll of 125 from preschool to Year 8.
