Leadership is not new for Immanuel Molia and Shyal Nair of Mahatma Gandhi High School.

Immanuel, 19, was appointed headboy while Shyal was badged the headgirl.

Immanuel said that it was a privilege to be the headboy of the school.

“Being the headboy I have to maintain discipline levels the school already has established,” Immanuel said

He is not the first in the family to be a school head prefect.

“Both of my parents were badged as heads of their respective schools during their time,” he said.

Immanuel said discipline would be his first priority.

Shyal, 18, of Suva, said she was surprised but it was worth receiving the position.

“I am the first in my family to receive the headgirl badge in the school,” Shyal said.

She said that she would also focus on disciplining students so that they can excel academically.

“I will try to be an inspiration for students,” she said

Both head prefects want to become accountants.

The school has a roll of 790 students and 40 teachers.
