Nitesh Proud Of Mum’s Career

It was a proud moment for Nit­ish Deo who received a token of appreciation on behalf of his mother from the Minister for Education, Heritage and Arts, Premila Kumar during the Re­tirees Recognition event in La­basa on Tuesday night.

Nirmala Wati was an Assistant Teacher at Boubale Primary School in Labasa and could not attend the event because of her health condition. Mr Deo was proud of her mother’s achieve­ment and said the award rec­ognised her sacrifices and con­tribution during her years as a teacher.

“I always look up to her as a role model, she taught me how to be disciplined, hardworking and be a caring person,” he said.

Mr Deo described his mother as someone who ensured her stu­dent’s education was paramount.

“I would like to convey my heartfelt thanks to the Minister for rewarding the retired teach­er’s contribution because I be­lieve human interaction is key to supporting the growth of teach­ers in our country,” he said.
