Police Officer Injured During Traffic Duties

A Police officer suffered minor injuries in an incident during a traffic check in Suva on Wednesday afternoon.

Constable Munishal Segran was standing on the side of a vehicle along Fletcher Road in Vatuwaqa when the incident happened.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the officer saw a vehicle parked in a no parking zone and he approached the driver.

Ms Naisoro said when the Police officer asked the driver to produce his licence, the driver allegedly drove off.

“The Police officer was standing on the side of the vehicle when the driver allegedly drove off,” she said.

“The officer suffered minor injuries. He was treated and sent home.”

Ms Naisoro said yesterday that the search was continuing for the driver of the vehicle.
