Waidradra Murder: Court to await psychiatric evaluation report

The 21-year-old farmer facing a murder charge has been further remanded in custody by the High Court in Suva.
Fabiano Dakai appeared before Justice Daniel Goundar yesterday.
Dakai is charged with one count of murder. He is alleged to have murdered a 34-year-old security guard Timoci Dogai of Waidradra on February 4, 2019.

Defence lawyer from the Legal Aid Commission Lavenia David told the court that the accused was seen by a doctor at the Saint Giles Hospital last week as per the order by the High Court on the last occasion the accused appeared in court.
State Prosecutor from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions Swastika Sharma sought 21 days to file information and disclosures.
Justice Goundar ordered the prosecutor and the defence lawyer to follow up with the Saint Giles Hospital and obtain the psychiatric evaluation report.
The case was adjourned to May 22 for plea.
